JOINT PRESS RELEASE BY CAMBODIA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE (CCC) AND MALAYSIAN BUSINESS CHAMBER IN CAMBODIA (MBCC)

The Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC) and the Malaysian Business Chamber of Cambodia (Formerly known as “Malaysian Business Council of Cambodia”) (MBCC), hereinafter collectively referred to as “MBCC”, “CCC”, “Us”, “We” or “Our”, being duly registered and established under the Law on Chamber of Commerce promulgated in 1995 and its relevant amendments and regulations of the Kingdom of Cambodia, both CCC and MBCC are officially recognized chambers of commerce/business chambers/chamber of commerce operating under the endorsement of the Kingdom of Cambodia, hereby issue this joint press release to the general public with the purpose of providing absolute clarity and avoidance of any potential confusion regarding concerning our relationship with the newly established entity known as the Malaysia Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (hereinafter referred to as the “MCCC”).

The Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC) is the only Cambodian National Chamber of Commerce Cambodia representing private sector interest in Cambodia. In accordance with Sub-decree 16 dated February 7, 2017 on the Organization and Functioning of CCC, the main role of CCC is being the dialogue partner of the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) and provides recommendation on economy and investment to the government. CCC was established with a comprehensive nationwide network in Cambodia and fortified by regional and global partnership and it is the premier national institution representing the interests of the Cambodian business sector across all industries, and has been instrumental in the economic development of Cambodia.

As is common knowledge, Malaysian Business Chamber in Cambodia (Formerly known as “Malaysian Business Council of Cambodia”) (MBCC) was established in Cambodia since 1993 and holds the exclusive recognition as the only official Malaysian Business Chamber in Cambodia by both the Governments of Malaysia and the Kingdom of Cambodia. With a rich history spanning 30 years, MBCC has been steadfast in fostering robust trade relations and delivering essential assistance to Malaysian enterprises for exports and inbound investments to Cambodia. It has emerged as an indispensable conduit, facilitating seamless connections between the business communities of Malaysia and Cambodia.

We have been made aware of the recent appearance of an organization registered in Malaysia, that had named and labeled itself as Malaysia Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (MCCC). We hereby apprise the general public that this MCCC has been established without any authorization from the relevant Cambodian authorities, nor has it received any form of consent or endorsement from either CCC or MBCC, and we specially bring your attention that the use of term “Cambodia Chamber of Commerce” by any organization other than CCC is an infringement of naming right of CCC. In order to prevent any confusion or misinterpretation among the business community and public. It is important to underscore the following points.

First and foremost, it is essential to note that the MCCC is not affiliated with, or a member of, or associated with CCC or MBCC in any capacity. Therefore, any references, comments, publications, statements, activities, programs, or creations made, issued, initiated or disseminated by MCCC are entirely wholly autonomous, independent and unrelated to CCC and MBCC.

It is our unequivocal intent and purpose to establish a definitive, explicit separation between CCC and MBCC on the one hand, and MCCC on the other. We seek to underscore this delineation in order to safeguard the interests, reputation, and standing of CCC and MBCC, as well as to ensure absolute clarity for the business community and public at large.

We further reiterate that MCCC, is in no manner associated with CCC or MBCC, and we would like to make it explicitly clear that any individuals or entities engaging in any form of communication, business transactions, or interactions with MCCC do so entirely at their own responsibility and risk. CCC and MBCC shall not be held directly or indirectly responsible for any outcomes, liabilities, losses, or damages resulting from such engagements.

We urge the business community and public to exercise due diligence and caution when interacting with MCCC or any entity claiming to be related to MBCC or CCC without proper verification.
